Sompen's Shibori Scarf
This Shibori silk scarf is handwoven in a Cambodian weaving village on the banks of the Mekong River and hand-dyed outside of Phnom Penh.
This community group was begun by Ms. Sompen Kutranon in an effort to revive the dying art of silkweaving after the Khmer Rouge decimated Cambodia. With lots of hard work over the years, she has brought emotional and technical support to the village weavers. The result? The village is building a self-sustaining economy and thriving.
Dyed using the shibori, or tie-dye technique, resulting in wonderful stripes and patterns of color.
We now have this scarf in two different colorways: Pink/Iridescent Orange and Denim Blue/Purple; it looks and feels really special, truly a work of art.
