Poppy Crocheted Purse
Little bags hand-crocheted in a "poppy" style by acid-burn survivors in Cambodia. The women worked so very hard to get these made correctly for us, no easy feat considering their physical challenges and that their English is minimal. This NGO goes a long way to help women and men find a place in the world that all too often rejects them.
Charming bags are approximately five by seven inches, lined with matching cotton, and have a strong zipper for secure closure. Choose navy, maroon, or oatmeal.
We have named this and the matching scarves after Shirin Juwaley, a survivor of an acid burn attack by her husband, enraged when she asked him for a divorce. Today she runs the Palash Foundation, offering advocacy to those with physical disfigurement, helping them reenter society and gain employment.
